Roasted makhana flavours at a glance

Himalayan Pink Salt: the plain one, salted, toasty and clean, with three ingredients. Smoky Peri-Peri: chilli, garlic, a little smoke and citrus, at medium heat. Cheddar & Herbs: mild cheddar, oregano and garlic; contains milk. Cracked Black Pepper: coarse pepper and sea salt, warm rather than hot. Hot Honey & Chilli: sweet first, then a slow heat. Cardamom & Honey: gently sweet, an after-dinner flavoured makhana.

Makhana is the seed of a water lily, popped into light puffs; on its own it tastes mild and toasty, which is why it carries flavour so well. The four savoury flavours have no added sugar; the two honey flavours are sweetened with honey.
